what inspired you to start shooting videos, and when did it first feel like your dream was actually possible?
I got inspired to start shooting videos in a photography class I only took for the extra elective credit. My teacher, Mr. Douglass, saw potential in me and encouraged me to move up to Advanced Photography. From there, I started shooting videos, editing on my iPhone, and turning the skills I learned from making Call of Duty montages and Fortnite edits into real projects. People began recognizing my work, and after my boy Trey blessed me with a Canon M50, we shot our first paid music video for $500. What started as a class I didn’t even want to be in turned into a passion, a business, and a way for me to express myself through filmmaking.
what was your wildest experience while being behind the camera?
Shooting a music video and midway [through] the police raided us, I jumped through my homeboy’s car window with my equipment halfway dangling out, speeding off, forgetting I was the camera man.
what is something that changed about your approach to your craft when you first started compared to now?
When I first started I would pick up the camera and figure it out as I went. Now I think about concepts, locations, lighting, camera movement, and how every shot connects before I even start filming.
if it weren't for videography , what do you feel like you'd be doing right now?
Honestly I’d be more into fashion, or moreso designing clothes. That’s probably the only thing I’d be as passionate about as videography, another form or way of expressing myself.
where do you see yourself within the next 5 years?
I see myself making a living entirely from my creativity and motivating the youth, showing it’s possible, whether that’s through videography, fashion, or other ventures that I build along the way.
if you had one last idea, statement or thought to give to the world, what would it be?
Trust God’s timing, keep working, stay faithful, and believe in the vision he gave you, cause trends fade but authenticity lasts forever, bet on yourself.
